Unfortunately, it looks like the restaurant has been replaced by an
art gallery. If anyone knows what happened or knows where the owner has gone,

A fine steakhouse, this is quickly becoming one of our favorites. (I
just wish we lived closer.) They serve aged certified Angus steaks. Their prime
rib is to die for. A huge plus is their wine list. Their service is exemplary.

Located in the Carter House Inn (Eureka's only 4-diamond lodging),
this fine establishment boasts fresh flowers and fare straight from their own gardens.
Both breakfast and dinner were very good. The menu changes seasonally with
a "Discovery Menu" that gives one a small break on the price ($$$). They have
an excellent wine cellar. The wine I chose wasn't available but one was recommended
that was superb!! Grazie, Paolo!

Up on Highway 1 north of Pont Reyes Station is this quaint little place. The
clam chowder is world famous. We found it nice and "clammy" with just the right amount of potato
but it wasn't the best we've eaten (we like it very creamy and buttery). Some say that this one
is salty. BUT (a big but), the barbecued oysters were superb! They were cooked perfectly
(that is, not overdone; just barely cooked)! The sauce was great; not too heavy and just the
right amount on each oyster. We'll definitely go back when we're in the area (even if our cousin
stopped working there ).
Update: our cuz doesn't work there anymore (but, yes, we'll still go
 )
